as 2015, the company reported on Thursday.
The Virginia-based space travel firm, which is the exclusive provider
to have reserved and presented commercial tours to the International
Space Station, will increase the area in the Soyuz spacecraft for the
flights. Soyuz spaceship, which was supplied by Russia’s Federal Space
Agency, has carried seven guests to Space since 2001.
A round trip for two around the moon in the much larger spaceship
will set you back approximately $150 million per tourist.
Reported by Space Adventures, the circumlunar excursion will demand at
least two months of training to help acquaint the guests with spacecraft
and the harsh environment of outer space.
As commercial space travel persists to appeal to private funding,
Space Adventures officials look forward to the lunar excursion to be a
substantive point in the history of space exploration.
“The moon holds a special place in all of our hearts. It’s a symbol
of the space future that humanity wishes for, a symbol of our curiosity,
and something that we see every night. When the private moon mission
launches, the eyes of the world will truly be upon those people, and it
will truly be an extraordinary event,” said the company’s chairman Eric
Anderson.
