BIRTHDAYS CAN CHANGE THE WORLD.
There are a billion people living without clean water. Four Septembers ago, we had a crazy idea. We asked our friends to give up their birthdays and ask for donations instead of gifts. We used 100% of the money raised to build water projects. Every year, it got bigger. We've now helped over a million people get clean water. This September, join us again. Watch the Trailer. Start a campaign. Give up your birthday. It can change the world.

WHO ARE THE BAYAKA?
The Bayaka are an African Pygmy tribe. They were one of the lasthunter-gatherer societies in the world until the logging industry pushedthem out of the forest. Now, they’re learning to live on the outskirts ofvillages, where they face rejection and abuse by locals who see them asanimals who belong in the jungle. Many Bayaka live without clean water insouthern C.A.R. We want to bring clean and safe drinking water to every oneof them.

WHAT’S THE SEPTEMBER CAMPAIGN?
charity: water started with a birthday party. When founder ScottHarrison turned 31, he asked everyone he knew to come to a party and bringmoney for clean water instead of gifts. He raised more than $15,000 and weused the money to give water to people living in a refugee camp in Uganda. In 2007 we did it again, but asked others born in September to join in aswell. They gave up birthday gifts and together we raised $150,000 to bringclean water to hospitals and schools in Kenya. A year later, 900 peoplejoined the movement, and almost $1 million was raised through birthdays. This year, we’re doing it again -- but bigger. We hope to bring clean andsafe drinking water to a forgotten people in a forgotten nation: the Bayakain Central African Republic. The 210 water projects that will serve 90,000people will cost $1.7 million -- an ambitious goal, but one we can reachwith your help.
